How I Navigated the Trends and What You Can Try Too

Let’s be real, digital marketing isn’t what it used to be. Just five years ago, writing a great blog or posting a photo with a clever caption could get you attention. But in 2025? It’s all about grabbing eyeballs fast, personalizing like a pro and letting AI do the heavy lifting the smart way.

I’ve been in the game long enough to see trends come and go, but the rise of short-form video and AI-driven marketing is not a trend. It’s the new rulebook. And trust me, if you get this right, your growth will look very different by the end of the year.

Short-Form Video is the Undisputed King

I’ll admit — I was hesitant to dive into Reels and Shorts. Editing? Scripting? Sounds exhausting, right?

But I gave it a go with just a few 30-second clips. No fancy setup — just my phone, a trending sound and something genuinely helpful or funny. The result? One of my videos reached 10x more people than my best-performing blog post.
I shared a post on B-roll and showed more audience (Non-followers) than my Followers.
Here’s another video i made for my Client and it gave more more reach and more followers.

Here’s what worked for me:

  • Keep it under 60 seconds – Attention spans are goldfish-sized now. Shorter means better.
  • Add value fast – Start strong, get to the point.
  • Use native features – Platforms love it when you use their tools like captions, stickers, and music.

And guess what? 66% of users say they prefer short-form videos to any other content type. Platforms like Instagram and YouTube want your videos to perform well — they’re literally prioritizing them in feeds.

If you’re not making short-form videos yet, 2025 is the year to start. Even something basic, done consistently, can get results.

AI Is Not Replacing You — It’s Elevating You

I used to think using AI for content creation was “cheating.” But when I tested AI tools for writing email sequences, analyzing audience behavior, and creating personalized ads — my ROI doubled.

Let’s break it down:

  • 30% of marketing messages this year are AI-generated – and you probably don’t even notice.
  • AI tools helped me automate repetitive tasks like FAQs and follow-ups. That freed me up to focus on strategy.
  • Personalization became effortless – from product recommendations to retargeting ads based on user actions.

One example: I ran a retargeting campaign using an AI-powered tool that adjusted the copy and creatives based on user preferences. The click-through rate went up by 43% compared to the old way.

If you’re still doing everything manually — you’re working too hard. Let AI handle the repetitive stuff so you can focus on what really matters: creating meaningful experiences.

Real Case Study: How Zomato Wins with Quirky Marketing

I’ve followed Zomato’s marketing closely and honestly, it’s genius. They don’t just sell food; they sell fun. Their meme marketing? Always on point. Their push notifications? Sometimes I open the app just to see what weirdly relatable or quirky message they’ve sent.

Key lessons from Zomato:

  • Use humor — relatability builds connection faster than perfection.
  • Be everywhere — they combine SEO, influencer collabs, ads, and app marketing.
  • Keep your voice consistent — every message feels “so Zomato.”

They saw a 48% YoY growth in Gross Order Value recently, and their creative marketing deserves serious credit.

So if you’re in the food, lifestyle or local business space — study Zomato. See how you can add your own twist.

Bonus Case Study: Lenskart’s Smart Use of AI

Another brand I admire is Lenskart. I tried their virtual try-on feature out of curiosity — and it was seamless. It felt personal, accurate, and a bit futuristic.

What they nailed:

  • AI-powered recommendations — no more scrolling for hours.
  • Email campaigns that actually feel relevant.
  • Retargeting that wasn’t annoying — it was helpful.

They reported up to 70% increase in conversions using these smart tools. If you’re in eCommerce, this level of personalization is no longer a luxury — it’s expected.

I’am going to tell you what lensKart did and what you can do as a Digital Marketer

1. AI-Driven Video Personalization

What Lenskart did:
Lenskart didn’t just create video ads, they created personalized video journeys. Using AI, they tailored video content based on:

  • Browsing behavior
  • Face shape analysis from their AR Try-On
  • Purchase intent

So if someone viewed a premium frame, they’d see a high-end lifestyle video in their feed. If someone tried kids’ glasses, the ad would reflect that.

What you can do:

  • Use AI tools like Vidyard, Rephrase.ai, or Synthesia to generate personalized videos at scale.
  • Segment your audience based on product interest or funnel stage, then deliver contextual videos that match where they are.
  • Test AI-generated faces, voices, or customer names for hyper-personalization.

2. Interactive Video Experiences Using AI + AR

What Lenskart did:
They turned their 3D Virtual Try-On tool into a video ad strategy. Instead of static ads, they showed videos of how users could try glasses virtually—making the tech the hero of the campaign.

The call-to-action? Try it yourself — and people did. Engagement rates shot up.

What you can do:

  • Create video demos of your interactive features (try-ons, calculators, AR tools).
  • Use shoppable video ads (YouTube, Instagram Reels) that include a “Try Now” or “Test This” CTA.
  • Show the tool in action — don’t just tell people it exists.

3. AI-Powered Influencer Video Campaigns

What Lenskart did:
In their “War of Fair Prices” campaign, Lenskart used AI to select and pair influencers based on audience match and content performance. Then, they created a story-led video campaign featuring Karan Johar vs Peyush Bansal, gamifying the price battle.

This wasn’t just celebrity shouting—it was strategic storytelling.

What you can do:

  • Use platforms like Affable.ai or Upfluence to discover and match the right influencers, not just big ones.
  • Focus on collaborative storytelling — build a series or narrative, not one-off shoutouts.
  • Turn influencer stories into multi-part reels, YouTube Shorts, or ad creatives.

4. AI Video Retargeting

What Lenskart did:
Once someone interacted with a frame or used the try-on tool, Lenskart served them retargeted videos—not static banners—featuring:

  • Similar styles
  • Promo codes
  • Reviews in video format

What you can do:

  • Set up dynamic video retargeting using tools like Vidioh, AdCreative.ai, or Google Performance Max.
  • Show customer testimonials or mini demos in retargeting flows.
  • Use video analytics to optimize watch time and click-through rates.

5. Automated Video Ads at Scale

What Lenskart did:
With so many SKUs and user types, Lenskart used automation to generate thousands of video variations featuring different products, models, and CTAs — all data-driven.

What you can do:

  • Use platforms like Rocketium, Pencil, or Canva AI Video to create ad variations quickly.
  • Plug into product feeds (Shopify, WooCommerce) and auto-generate ad creatives for each SKU.
  • Customize ads by location, user interests, or past engagement.

The Loop Lenskart Perfected:

AI → Personalized Video → Engagement → Retargeting → Conversion

They didn’t treat video as a one-time campaign. They created an AI-powered video funnel that responded to user behavior, adjusted content, and moved customers through the buyer journey.

Final Thoughts: Here’s What I’d Recommend

If you’re looking to up your marketing game in 2025, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Start creating short-form videos — seriously, today.
  2. Embrace AI tools for content, automation, and personalization.
  3. Observe and learn from top brands like Zomato and Lenskart — then adapt it for your brand voice.

Don’t wait for “the right time.” Start experimenting, analyze the results, and double down on what works. I did — and the returns have been worth it.
